Cancer Services enhances the quality of life of those affected by cancer by providing meaningful resources, information and compassionate assistance.
CLARITY
Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana has been providing support to residents of Kosciusko County since 2006, but individuals previously had to travel to its Fort Wayne location for many of their services. After completing a strategic planning process and conducting studies to identify needs in the region’s rural areas, they decided to open a satellite office in Kosciusko County in 2024.
K21 Health Foundation awarded a grant to support Cancer Services’ expansion to Warsaw and has continued to support their programs because it provides direct services to our community members, enabling them to receive the care they need, where they need it, and when they need it.
COMMITMENT
K21 provided more than financial support. “We knew Kosciusko County was the right place because of the strong partnerships in the community,” explained Stacey Stumpf, Director of Development at Cancer Services. “From the YMCA, to the Pavilion Help Center, to the Cancer Consortium and, of course, K21 Health Foundation!”
Stacey continued, “We knew we couldn’t simply duplicate our Fort Wayne operations and expect to succeed. K21 provided us with foundational insights for the expansion, connecting us with potential partners and community members we would be serving. As a result of this process, we made sure our client advocate at the Warsaw office lives in the community and is bilingual. Because of that, we were able to customize our wellness programs to meet the community’s needs.”
IMPACT
Cancer can affect anyone, at any time. K21 provided grant funding and guidance to ensure Kosciusko residents and their families obtain cancer care resources without the burden of extra travel. From financial assistance, medical equipment and transportation to certified oncology massage, restorative yoga and mental health counseling, Cancer Services provides comprehensive support tailored to each person’s and family’s needs.
